Best Ruger 10/22 Magazine
Thanks to the popularity of the 10/22 and the small size of 22 Long Rifle ammunition, there's a ton of cool options to cover.
Without further ado, here are our picks for the best Ruger 10/22 magazine:
- Ruger BX-15
- Ruger BX-25
- Ruger BX-25 Clear Sided
- Ruger BX-1
- Butler Creek Steel Lips
- ProMags
- ProMag 55 Rd Drum
- Ruger BX-25x2
- GSG 110 Rd Drum
Before jumping into aftermarket manufacturers, I'll first quickly cover the options from Ruger themselves. Though they're often more expensive than other manufacturers, they're also often the most reliable options.
If you've recently bought a 10/22, there's a good chance it came with the BX-15 15 round magazine.

The outside of the BX-15 is polymer to reduce weight, but it has a steel-lined inside and fully metal feed lips to improve reliability.
While sharing many similarities to the BX-15, Ruger also offers an extended 25 round magazine - the BX-25.

From what I can tell, this seems to be the most popular Ruger 10/22 magazine. It gives you relatively high capacity, while still maintaining the same level of reliability as lower capacity options.
You can often find better prices per unit when you buy two packs (see here & here).
Ruger's BX-25 mags are also available in a clear sided version.

The left side of the magazine is clear to allow you to see your round count. Unfortunately, left-handed shooters don't benefit as much from this as it's hard to see when shooting because it's on the opposite side of your rifle.
Despite looking cool and letting you know your exact round count, these are still just as reliable as the non-clear options from Ruger. The BX-25 Clear Sidesd Mag is our overall choice for the best Ruger 10/22 magazine.
Before jumping into aftermarket manufacturers, there's one more 10/22 magazine from Ruger to cover - The BX-1.
This 10 round rotary mag is available in both Black and Clear.

Those of you who can only have 5 or 10 round magazines, may want to check out this "TriMag" coupler that interlocks three Ruger 10/22 rotary magazines.

Butler Creek is the most popular aftermarket manufacturer of Ruger 10/22 magazines. Their Steel Lips line of magazines are a reliable alternative to Ruger factory mags, while usually being significantly cheaper.
These mags are made from polymer but have stainless steel feed lips.
They're available in 25 round options (clear and smoke translucent):

ProMag is a manufacturer that makes magazines for a huge variety of different weapons platforms, including Mini-14 magazines and these for the Ruger 10/22. While their products are generally solid performers at an affordable price, they've been known to have some quality control issues. This has kept us from featuring them in guides like the best AR-15 magazine and best Glock magazines.
While we don't feel confident enough in their reliability to recommend them for self-defense weapons, we think they're worth covering as an affordable option for a plinking rifle. If you just want some extra magazines to avoid reloading the same one over and over, they're a serviceable option priced well below Ruger factory 10/22 magazines.
Please just keep in mind that we don't recommend them for self-defense or competition.

Though ProMags may not be the best 10/22 magazines and we gave them a pretty big disclaimer, I've used various ProMags for a variety of different weapon platforms with minimal issues.
Ruger 10/22 ProMags come in a variety of styles and capacities, from 10 rounds to 55 rounds.
Now it's time to move on to some of the more extreme Ruger 10/22 high capacity magazines. To start this off, we'll feature a specific ProMag model.
While we warned about ProMag's reliability above, it should be said that ultra high-capacity magazines all generally suffer from reliability issues. This is especially true of drum-style magazines.
Magazines with a capacity of 40 rounds, 50 rounds, or even larger capacities are generally more for a fun gimmick than they are to be used for anything serious.
It's REALLY fun blasting off 50 rounds without a magazine swap, but don't expect these to work 100% flawlessly.

In my experience, this 55 round Ruger 10/22 magazine has functioned just as reliably as any other drum mags for this platform.
It's tough to say if this really fits our criteria for a high capacity 10/22 magazine.
Basically, the BX-25x2 is two BX-25s (25 round mags) molded together. In other words, it saves you from having to buy a coupler. You can shoot the 25 rounds on one side of the magazine, then flip it over to shoot the remaining 25 rounds.

At a modest price, this drum mag lets you take full advantage of how cheap 22 Long Rifle ammunition is to shoot. If you're looking for something with a high capacity, this is likely the best 10/22 magazine for you.
Summary of the Best 10/22 Magazines
You came to this guide looking for the best 10/22 magazine and we're here to tell you that you can't go wrong with the ones made by Ruger themselves. Our favorite option from them is the BX-25 Clear Sided mag.
Butler Creek is a great manufacturer of aftermarket 10/22 magazines that are more affordable than Ruger's, but they can be tough to find. ProMags are another affordable alternative, but they suffer from quality control issues.
If you want something with a huge capacity, there's the GSG 110 Round drum mag.
